On 16th July 2015 we were delighted to appoint Dr Tsitsi Chawatama to the Board of Trustees.
Tsitsi is a Consultant Paediatrician at Kingston Hospital. Holding a Postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the London School and a Masters in International Child Health (University College London, she is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (RCPCH) and the Children’s HIV Association UK (CHIVA), and brings a wealth of experience in paediatric healthcare and treatment of HIV to Sentebale.
Tsitsi spent many of her formative years living in Zimbabwe, and worked in Ethiopia as a Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health/Volunteer Service Overseas Fellow on a UNICEF funded initiative developing an education program, whilst contributing to the improvement of neonatal and paediatric services including HIV care.
Tsitsi’s experience in paediatric services will be valuable in enhancing our work in delivering psychosocial support to vulnerable children and those young people living with HIV, both in Lesotho, and as we expand into other southern Africa countries.
Philip Green, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said; “I am delighted to welcome Tsitsi to our Board of Trustees. Her extensive experience and knowledge around paediatric healthcare, and particularly in the field of HIV, will greatly support our work in Lesotho and as we look to expand to other southern African countries. I look forward to working with her at this exciting time for Sentebale.”
