Prince Seeiso had the honours of throwing in the first ball of what turned out to be a thrilling match for our guests. Malcolm Borwick and Adamu Atta both scored a hat-trick for their respective teams but it was a final goal by Bill Ballhaus which secured the victory meaning that for the first time in its six year history, the trophy was won by Nacho Figueras’ Royal Salute Team with a final score of eight against a score of seven by the Sentebale ISPS Handa team.

Following the match, guests moved through to dinner and heard from Sentebale Patrons Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso who spoke to guests about the importance of Sentebale’s work with the vulnerable children in Lesotho, including the impact which the recently opened ‘Mamohato Children’s Centre will make on the children Sentebale supports. Sentebale Ambassador, Nacho Figueras also spoke of the connection he feels to the children of Lesotho, particularly as a father of four. Nacho said, “The real winner today is Sentebale… I am very proud today to be an ambassador.”

Guests included Laura Main, George The Poet who had both travelled from Lesotho where they attended the opening of the ‘Mamohato Children’s Centre. We also welcomed notable South African guests including former Olympic Gold Medallist, Ryk Neethling, former South African cricketer, Graeme Smith and head of the South African Football Association, Tokyo Sexwale.
