Oil Aid 2015 raises money for Sentebale
On Thursday 4th June 2015, Sentebale, for the third time, was a beneficiary of Oil Aid football tournament at the iconic Chelsea Football Club ground, Stamford Bridge.
Co-Founding Patron Prince Harry took part in a private football match before drawing the team names for the afternoon’s seven-a-side football tournament.
Oil Aid presented by Audemars Piguet and Watches of Switzerland, this year marked the tenth anniversary of this special charity fundraiser. Founded by Michael Holland, Bob Finch and Marc Thompson following the devastating 2004 Asian Tsunami in which Michael Holland lost three members of his family, Oil Aid began with the goal of helping those most in need.
Sentebale is delighted, along with The Prince’s Trust to be one of the charities benefiting from this event.
The money raised has been invaluable in enabling Sentebale to support many more vulnerable children in Lesotho, specifically those living with HIV. Later this year, we will open the Mamohato Children’s Centre. The centre will be a hub for all our work with disadvantaged children, but specifically it will enable us to provide essential emotional and psychological support to four-times the number of children living with HIV.
Sentebale is enormously grateful to Mike Holland, the team at Oil Aid and their sponsors for all their support over the years. The event has enabled us to help many more vulnerable children in Lesotho, giving them a chance to lead healthy, long lives. Thank you!
