Prince Harry to attend fundraising dinner in Dubai
Sentebale’s co-founder, Prince Harry will attend the Sentebale Forget-Me-Not Dinner at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai on Monday 7th October.
Sentebale is partnering with the Al Jalila Foundation, a not-for-profit healthcare organisation, established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, to raise money for Sentebale to build the first purpose-built Mamohato Children’s Centre of Excellence, near Maseru the capital city of Lesotho.
Sentebale is in the process of scaling up the Mamohato Network Clubs and Camps Programme, which addresses the gap in HIV/AIDS education provision, and provides emotional and psychological support for HIV-positive children in Lesotho. The programme was recognised in the UN General Assembly (UNGASS) report of 2010 as a model of international best practice. To kick-start the expansion plans, a fundraising campaign was launched in January to build a Centre of Excellence to house the Mamohato Camps. This will allow Sentebale to support four times as many children each year, and serve as a beacon of Sentebale’s future expansion into other southern African countries.
Her Excellency Raja Al Gurg, Member of Board of Trustees and Chairperson of Board of Directors of Al Jalila Foundation commented, “As a global healthcare foundation dedicated to transforming lives, we consider it a privilege to be able to support the children of Lesotho to lead healthy and productive lives. We are extremely proud to support Sentebale in its mission and look forward to a long term partnership.”
Cathy Ferrier, CEO at Sentebale commented, “We are delighted to be holding the Sentebale Forget-Me-Not Dinner in Dubai. It comes near the end of a busy year of fundraising, which will help us reach our goal of building the Mamohato Children’s Centre. We have generated support from all over the world and hope our guests in Dubai will feel that they too want to be a part of changing the lives of thousands of HIV-positive children across Lesotho.”
The evening has kindly been supported by Coutts, Garrard and Damas and the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai and will consist of a reception, followed by dinner, speeches and an auction. The event is invitation only.
Amir Sadr, Managing Director, Co-Head, Middle East at Coutts commented, “As we continue to focus on the Middle East and demonstrate our commitment to the region, we look forward to welcoming guests and clients to what we anticipate will be a truly memorable evening.”
